Ping Pong - not so good!

Well, Pumpkin went into tonight's ping pong tournament the neighborhood champion. He came out....not quite the same. I'll just say in the double elimination tournament - he didn't make it past two rounds. Ouch. Not quite what he had in mind.

I, on the other hand, made it THREE whole rounds!!!1 OK - so I lost the first and went straight to the loser's bracket. Then I won the next and was KILLED in the last set of game! Oh well. It was A LOT of fun!!! I'll post pics tomorrow. Right now - at 1:25 am - I'm a smidge tired.

Givn' props to Lori Hagan - she rocked!!! Smoked me left & right and everywhere in between!

Thanks to everyone who participated & planned. It was a huge success as a fund raiser for our tennis program, but more importantly, it was a great gettogether for our community!

So - for now - toodles. I'm goin' to sleep!

Diva or Ham?

Our baby chicklet is a ham, I mean, diva. She can turn any ensemble of clothing into an outfit extraordinaire.
Exhibit A:

I mean, I never would have thought to put together velour sweatpants, satin Princess Jasmine dress, knit scarf, fleece hat & sunglasses. But, hey, it appears to work for her!

Exhibit B:

Then she throws in some SASS and here you have Princess Kaley.

Finally, she gives her fans an over the lens look and...

BAM - she's a little diva.

Gotta love it.

iHeartFaces

I love to take pictures. I CRAVE a new lens, but that's WAY down the road. In the meantime, I'll use what I've got! With Brittney & Tripp so active in sports, I bought a fabulous camera about 2 years ago - the Canon Rebel SLR EOS. It takes fabulous action shots and I take it everywhere!

This morning, popping around blogs, I found a blog that has a weekly contest for pictures of faces, both kids and adults. This week's contest from iHeartFaces focuses on JOY.

I picked this picture of Kaley from the beach under the "mushroom fountain." She loved it - OBVIOUSLY! Add in the water dropping down - LOVE IT!

Without further ado....

Sick, sick and more sick OH and contests too!

Sicky notes for the day: Kaley bug is home today sick. She's seriously snotty (hope you're not eating right now!), has a fever and a croupy sounding cough. It's very easy to predict/tell when she's about to get sick. Her eyes are the window to her cooties! She gets major bags under her pretty little eyes. It's pitiful. So all morning we've been snuggled up on the couch, watching tv & doing puzzles. At this exact moment, she is on the computer playing games on Playhouse Disney so I'm typing away on the laptop while sitting on the floor beside her.

On to our eldest chick. MRSA is evil. It has been our personal nightmare. Yesterday we saw ANOTHER specialist - pediatric dermatologist. He seems to think that the MRSA was able to get into her ears because of acne/blackheads in her ears -basically like foliculitis in her ears.

Time out - gotta go help with Goofy's Shoe Round Up....

OK - back to business. He gave her two creams to use. One to use twice daily - it's a combination of a topical antibiotic (clindamycin - the same she is taking orally) and a steroid. The other is to use if any more spots become inflamed or infected looking. Our next step is an appointment on Friday with a pediatric ENT. The infectious disease doctor highly recommended we go see both so away we've gone.

In addition to the ear pain associated with having staph infections in BOTH ears, she now has pretty severe stomach issues from being on heavy duty antibiotics for five months. They are pretty sure that all the good bacteria has ben killed while trying to kill (unsuccessfully) the MRSA. She has lost SEVEN pounds in two weeks - weight she has no business losing. She hardly eats because when she does she gets severe stomach pains/cramps. She's pitiful too.

THANK GOODNESS middle chicklet is all well. He's had a couple of days with stomach issues, but Pumpkin & I think it has a lot to do with his chili consumption!! What goes in must come out(again - hope you are not eating!)!! He's crazy busy right now. It's that time of the year when basketball is ending & travel baseball is practicing like crazy getting ready for their season. Add on the middle school day/schedule and it makes for long days! However, he certainly finds time to play Xbox. Heaven help us if he can't get his "fix"!!

Now - on to the contest!!! Bellaziza's Favorite Things has another SWAG ALERT - Get it together with momAgenda. I LOVE LOVE LOVE momAgenda. I have the mini daily, and it's my sanity. Maybe that's debatable, but moving on... I desperately want a desk pad, wall calendar, weekly menu/grocery pad, permission slip pad, etc....... The list goes on. I LOVE (did I say that already) momAgenda! Check it out when you get a chance and go over to Bellaziza's Favorite Things and comment to enter the contest!

"Not Me!" Monday

For lots more "Not me!" Monday, head over to MckMama's blog!

It was NOT ME who let Kaley sleep in our bed last night after telling everyone what a pushover her Daddy was for letting her sleep in the bed with him when I was out of town. Your Honor, I plead temporary insanity.

It was NOT ME who also let Kaley have milk in her sippy cup at bedtime after over and over telling her Daddy how bad it was for her teeth. Does being tired count as an excuse????

It was NOT ME who stood up and yelled at the opposing coach at Friday night's high school basketball game. And it was NOT ME who watched her daughter the cheerleader do the same from the sidelines. Seriously, I would NOT set that type of example.

It was also NOT ME encouraged the cheerleaders to get everyone they know pumped up for the night that same team comes to OUR gym so we can have a loud heckling section. Really, I would not encourage retaliation.

Also, check out my new Say WHAT?! Saturday for the funny things our kids say.

Have a great week and remember to keep praying for Abby Riggs!

Say WHAT?! Saturday

Do your kids say the craziest, silliest, funniest things that make you laugh out loud? Mine do, and I’m a firm believer in the old adage “laughter is good for the soul.”

So a new theme is born. Each Saturday I will post a Say WHAT?! blog. At the bottom of the blog will be a Mr. Linky where you can link to your post of the wacky things your kids say! Let’s laugh ‘till we cry! DEAL?

Pre-shower: "Let's dance naked, Mommy." (Funny in itself, but just wait...) "Ummm - you don't look good, Mommy. You can stop now."

Watching people kiss on tv: "Do they have their driver's license?" "I don't know, Kaley. Why?" "People can only kiss if they are in love or have their driver's license!" DUH!!!

PS – I've made it where you can leave comments MUCH easier. Come on, y’all. I know you are reading. My self esteem is dropping here. I need comments!

Frozen Tundra

Here in HOTlanta, temperatures usually don’t dip below the 30’s and CERTAINLY don’t get into the single digits and teens. However, at this precise moment, we are a balmy 14 degrees. WHAT?! This is the South for Heaven’s sake! Georgia, home of southern belles (‘cause y’all know that’s SO me – delicate little flower that I am…insert sarcasm – heavy dose, mind you).

I don't like to be cold. I'd rather it be 90 degrees and in a bathing suit at the pool. Sorry for that visual so early in the morning. I hope you were able to keep your breakfast down! My idea of cold is the pool water before July. This 14 degree stuff is for the birds or should I say Eskimos!!

I have a disappearing fountain in my front yard and another fountain in the back yard. Pumpkin put bleach in them thinking it would prevent them from freezing. See how that worked out for us...

It’s cold. BRRRRRRRRRR

Urgent need for help!!

Good morning. Through my blog I'm in touch with many moms around the United States. I have just heard of a family in URGENT need of help.

They have TEN children - many are adopted from all over the world. They have felt called to help children and have selflessly done so. They JUST returned home December 19 from Africa where they adopted 2 more children.

Yesterday their home caught on fire and the inside is a TOTAL LOSS. They don't know if the structure can be saved or not. Not only have they lost EVERYTHING except the clothes on their backs, they have two children who have not been here for even one month!! I'm sure you can imagine those children are terrified.

I have contacted Linn abd told her I plan to send a care package to them. PLEASE let your heart open for this very very needy family. I am collecting items for the next two days (only a short time, but I want to get things to them ASAP!). I'm asking our wonderful friends/family to please donate items they are in desperate need of. Here is a list of suggestions, but feel free to bring anything! Remember, they have small children and need both adult & child items.

Visa Gift Cards
Wal-Mart Gift Cards
Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Dental Floss
Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner
Disposable Razors/Deodorant/Q tips
Hairbrush/Comb/Ponytail Holders
Disposable Washcloths
Contact Solution
Tylenol/Advil (child & adult)
Tissue/Kleenex
Diapers

Please email me at dj0811@bellsouth.net if you would like to help. I will be HAPPY to either come & pick items up or arrange for pick up.

Here is their blog address to read more about their story.

"Not Me!" Monday

It was NOT ME who apparently has taught baby chicklet "Crack Kills" when referring to someone's visible posterier line. Please, Lord, don't let her say it at the church preschool!

It was NOT ME who laughed out loud when Kaley (aka Scarlette O'Hara) told Pumpkin "I'll share tomorrow" after he told her she had to share her doughnuts with Brittney. I would never do that because Mommies do not laugh at such things and certainly not in front of their child!

It was NOT ME who was SCHOOLED by her entire family at ping pong!! Did the universe tilt?

It was NOT ME who begged Pumpkin to let her go to sleep before 10:30 on a Saturday night. No more wild & crazy nights here!

It was NOT ME who laughed hysterically at Pumpkin's very entertaining idea for a Facebook profile picture. And I will NOT mention that it deals with painting on a booty (anyone sensing a pattern with "butts" in my family).

It absolutely, positively is NOT ME who cracks up everytime Kaley says "I pooted." Because I am MATURE adult and would never ever be reduced to being entertained by potty humor. :)

Head on over to
MckMama's site for more "Not Me!" Monday!

Have a great week!

TENNIS AGAIN, FINALLY!!

I can not tell you how HAPPY I am to have played tennis today!! Ironic considering it was 36 degrees with crazy wind so it felt in the 20's, and we all know I am a SUMMER GAL! But - I GOT TO PLAY TENNIS!!

For those of you who don't know (and probably don't care, but, HEY, it's my blog!), I had stress fractures in 2 of my metatartials in my left foot from too much tennis :) and was in a boot for longer than I care to mention and relive. Bottom line - I haven't hit a tennis ball since August.

It was joy. Pure joy. Obviously not the best I could have played, but just being on the court and hitting balls was wonderful! And - to top it off - I played with Pumpkin and we WON! (Can I get a WHOO WHOO?!)

Tennis in Atlanta is crazy for those of you who don't live here. ALTA - Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association - is practically a 2nd religion for some. Then you have USTA, T2, K-Swiss, Mixed, Women's, Men's, Juniors, Seniors. The list goes on & on. Great exercise, very social, and lots of fun. Tripp was a little over a year old when I picked up the racket for the first time, and it was love at first sight. I've meet many of my closest friends through tennis.

When Scott & I first met, he had never "played" tennis. He had picked up a racket and hit balls with friends but had never played on a team. I was totally looking forward to beating his booty. That lasted a VERY short time. He's such a natural athlete that, of course, he passed my abilities in no time. Turkey. However, we are on the same mixed tennis team and get to play together and are a very good pair. Yet another thing in my life I'm fortunate for.

SOOOO - Yay for me - being back to tennis and WINNING!! :)

Who is the real Santa Clause?

Kaley cracks me up. Just absolutely cracks me up.

As I was drying her hair getting her ready for school this morning, she says, "Is Daddy Santa Clause?" WHOAH!!! She's just 4 - barely 4 - way too early to question or not believe. My first thought is, "TRIPP!!!!!!!" In that split second I decide not to muzzle the middle chicklet and see what's going on in baby chicklet's head! "Of course not, Kaley. Why would you think that?"

Pause for dramatic effect....

"Because he has a big round belly."

DUH....

So not to just pick on Pumpkin, I'll also 'fess up to her ponderings on Mommy's weight .

She was cutting string and wanting to tie it around me. Scary. Well, the first piece was too short. I'm picking things up, and she's measuring & cutting. She yells out, "Mommy, this piece should fit." I turn around...

Dramatic effect again...

It stretches across the dining room.

Should fit? Please Lord, let it fit!!
