Just for Giggles

Last night the Atlanta Auburn Club had a scholarship event at Just for Giggles. It's a local gallery where an artist leads you step by step in making your VERY OWN masterpiece. The original plan was for Kaley to do the painting. Once we got there, we figured it was a little advanced for her.

SO - we modified! :)

I'm fairly creative. EXCEPT when it comes to drawing/painting. My stick figures leave much to be desired. That is, until last night!

Megan, the owner and painter/teacher extraordinaire, walked us through outlining the canvas for our painting.

Baby chicklet was on the easel for a short period of time. But Aubie was too hard for her.

She moved to the floor so she would stop smearing paint on the poor lady beside us her creativity could be unobstructed.

And we all know she is NEVER too busy to stop and pose.

Soon her masterpiece was complete.

We present you with:

Aubie

AND

Aubie after he's been run over by a car

(So named by Kaley's loving and supportive Daddy.)

At the end of the evening, this Georgia girl needed a whopping dose of red and black because I was surrounded by AUBIES!

Out of the Mouth of Baby Chicklet

Dadddy - "I'm Kaley. WAAAAHHH! WAAAHHHH! WAAAHHH!"

Kaley - "I'm Daddy. Go to your room until you stop crying!!"

Drop It Like It’s Hot

Which is ALMOST what I did! However, I was able to get my craziness (attempting to get the pan out of the oven without pot holders) under control and ended up with these lovely heart shaped crayons for Kaley’s Valentine’s Day party at school.

Crayon Heart

Mucho thanks to Janie @Mommy Has a Blog for this great idea!

As you can see, the brilliance of my creative genius copying is so bright, baby chicklet has to squint her eyes!

NOOOOO, we were not experimenting with body art. KK had just finished painting this little gem I found at Michaels for ONLY $2.99! What a bargain!!

Kickin' Myself

DUH! I didn't take ANY pictures from our Super Bowl "gathering"!! I can't believe it! I'm a picture taking fool and missed a great opportunity for pics of our friends. MAN!

There was a role reversal of sorts last night. For the most part the WOMEN were in the living room on the sofas in front of the tv while the MEN huddled around the counter in the kitchen! It was too funny. Although I will say the men were likely giving up the couch seats for the preggers in the group! Such gentlemen!

Two of the families have kids Kaley's age - Claire is 2 weeks older than baby chicklet & Mia is two weeks younger. Those girls PLAYED, PLAYED, PLAYED!! And since baby chicklet likes nothing better than having friends over, she was in hog heaven!

Great food, great company, great game, great commercials!

Since there is something wrong with my chemical makeup, and I enjoy seeing people do stupid things, I loved the Doritos commercial where everything goes right while he's eating and then when he's finished, he gets hit by the bus. Cracked me up!! See - told you there was something wrong with me! :) Anybody else have a favorite?

Diva or Ham?

Our baby chicklet is a ham, I mean, diva. She can turn any ensemble of clothing into an outfit extraordinaire.
Exhibit A:

I mean, I never would have thought to put together velour sweatpants, satin Princess Jasmine dress, knit scarf, fleece hat & sunglasses. But, hey, it appears to work for her!

Exhibit B:

Then she throws in some SASS and here you have Princess Kaley.

Finally, she gives her fans an over the lens look and...

BAM - she's a little diva.

Gotta love it.

iHeartFaces

I love to take pictures. I CRAVE a new lens, but that's WAY down the road. In the meantime, I'll use what I've got! With Brittney & Tripp so active in sports, I bought a fabulous camera about 2 years ago - the Canon Rebel SLR EOS. It takes fabulous action shots and I take it everywhere!

This morning, popping around blogs, I found a blog that has a weekly contest for pictures of faces, both kids and adults. This week's contest from iHeartFaces focuses on JOY.

I picked this picture of Kaley from the beach under the "mushroom fountain." She loved it - OBVIOUSLY! Add in the water dropping down - LOVE IT!

Without further ado....

Sick, sick and more sick OH and contests too!

Sicky notes for the day: Kaley bug is home today sick. She's seriously snotty (hope you're not eating right now!), has a fever and a croupy sounding cough. It's very easy to predict/tell when she's about to get sick. Her eyes are the window to her cooties! She gets major bags under her pretty little eyes. It's pitiful. So all morning we've been snuggled up on the couch, watching tv & doing puzzles. At this exact moment, she is on the computer playing games on Playhouse Disney so I'm typing away on the laptop while sitting on the floor beside her.

On to our eldest chick. MRSA is evil. It has been our personal nightmare. Yesterday we saw ANOTHER specialist - pediatric dermatologist. He seems to think that the MRSA was able to get into her ears because of acne/blackheads in her ears -basically like foliculitis in her ears.

Time out - gotta go help with Goofy's Shoe Round Up....

OK - back to business. He gave her two creams to use. One to use twice daily - it's a combination of a topical antibiotic (clindamycin - the same she is taking orally) and a steroid. The other is to use if any more spots become inflamed or infected looking. Our next step is an appointment on Friday with a pediatric ENT. The infectious disease doctor highly recommended we go see both so away we've gone.

In addition to the ear pain associated with having staph infections in BOTH ears, she now has pretty severe stomach issues from being on heavy duty antibiotics for five months. They are pretty sure that all the good bacteria has ben killed while trying to kill (unsuccessfully) the MRSA. She has lost SEVEN pounds in two weeks - weight she has no business losing. She hardly eats because when she does she gets severe stomach pains/cramps. She's pitiful too.

THANK GOODNESS middle chicklet is all well. He's had a couple of days with stomach issues, but Pumpkin & I think it has a lot to do with his chili consumption!! What goes in must come out(again - hope you are not eating!)!! He's crazy busy right now. It's that time of the year when basketball is ending & travel baseball is practicing like crazy getting ready for their season. Add on the middle school day/schedule and it makes for long days! However, he certainly finds time to play Xbox. Heaven help us if he can't get his "fix"!!

Now - on to the contest!!! Bellaziza's Favorite Things has another SWAG ALERT - Get it together with momAgenda. I LOVE LOVE LOVE momAgenda. I have the mini daily, and it's my sanity. Maybe that's debatable, but moving on... I desperately want a desk pad, wall calendar, weekly menu/grocery pad, permission slip pad, etc....... The list goes on. I LOVE (did I say that already) momAgenda! Check it out when you get a chance and go over to Bellaziza's Favorite Things and comment to enter the contest!

Who is the real Santa Clause?

Kaley cracks me up. Just absolutely cracks me up.

As I was drying her hair getting her ready for school this morning, she says, "Is Daddy Santa Clause?" WHOAH!!! She's just 4 - barely 4 - way too early to question or not believe. My first thought is, "TRIPP!!!!!!!" In that split second I decide not to muzzle the middle chicklet and see what's going on in baby chicklet's head! "Of course not, Kaley. Why would you think that?"

Pause for dramatic effect....

"Because he has a big round belly."

DUH....

So not to just pick on Pumpkin, I'll also 'fess up to her ponderings on Mommy's weight .

She was cutting string and wanting to tie it around me. Scary. Well, the first piece was too short. I'm picking things up, and she's measuring & cutting. She yells out, "Mommy, this piece should fit." I turn around...

Dramatic effect again...

It stretches across the dining room.

Should fit? Please Lord, let it fit!!

News of all sorts

Well, first the GOOD NEWS!!! Miss Kaley slept in her bed ALL NIGHT LAST NIGHT - from about 9:15 to 9:00 this morning! YAHOO!!!! We finished the bedtime ritual (bath, book, tuck in, deciding which sound from the noise maching) around 8:30. Pumpkin & I both expected lots of tears, sobs, etc., but boy were we surprised - there was NONE! She maybe called for us or came out of her room 6 or 7 times until she just curled up & went to sleep about 45 minutes later. NOT BAD at all for her first night!! She came to get me around 9:15 this morning. She had changed into clothes and was grinning EAR to EAR! She couldn't wait to call her Daddy and let him know that she slept in her bed all night long! She kept saying how she was a big girl and wasn't scared anymore! YAY KALEY!!!!!!!

Next news isn't good or bad - just another step in our journey with Brittney's MRSA. The new antibiotics (round 4) aren't working at all. Her right ear is getting worse. SO - today we have an appointment with the infectious disease doctor. We went to see them during the last episode, and it wasn't effective. We're hoping for a much different outcome this time. Her appointment is at 1:30. I'll put something on Twitter from my phone.

Final news is not mine to share, but she knows who I'm talking about. S - I am sooooo excited for you! What an answer to A LOT of prayers! YAHOO!

Please feel free to comment on here rather than emailing me. You'll have to sign up for an account, but it's quick & easy.
